UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio --
Attempted robbery: Cedar Road
At 8:40 p.m. Nov. 16, police were dispatched to a lot at 14050 Cedar Road, where a Cleveland man, 43, reported that as he was putting his 4-month-old son into his backseat car seat, a man got out of the car’s front passenger seat and, with his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and demanded the man’s wallet.
The man refused to give the suspect his wallet and the suspect ran. Police were unable to find the suspect. The detective bureau is following up on the matter.
Domestic violence: Tullamore Road
At 12:50 p.m. Nov. 14, police were called to a home in the 3400 block of Tullamore Road on a report of an argument. At the scene, officers determined that the argument had grown violent.
Officers detained a 37-year-old University Heights man with known mental health issues and transported him to a hospital.
Assault: Tullamore Road
At 9:10 p.m. Nov. 14, police were dispatched to a group home where a resident, a boy, 12, had been involved in a physical altercation with a staff member, a Cleveland woman, 43. The boy was taken to a hospital for evaluation. An investigation is pending.
After his release from the hospital, the boy was released back into the custody of the Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services.
Disturbance: Northwood Road
At 11:05 a.m. Nov. 15, dispatch received a 911 call about a physical altercation at a home in the 3800 block of Northwood Road. Prior to officers’ arrival, one of the involved parties left the scene in a blue van. Police were unable to locate the van.
The home’s resident, a woman, 21, said that she argued and then fought with her significant other, a Euclid woman, 30, over alleged infidelity. Due to conflicting statements and a lack of cooperation on the part of the women, no charges were pursued.
Assault: South Belvoir Boulevard
At 8:55 a.m. Nov. 16, a staff member of Bellefaire JCB, 2575 S. Belvoir Blvd., went to the police station to report an assault that took place Nov. 15 involving a 29-year-old female staff member and a 17-year-old female client.
The reporting party told police that the girl became irate when informed that her doctor’s appointment had been cancelled and attacked the staff member. The staff member reported that she sustained minor injuries when some of her hair had been pulled out of her head. Police are investigating.
Theft: Charney Road
At 2:10 p.m. Nov. 16, a 62-year-old Charney Road resident flagged down an officer to report the theft of $250 from her house. The woman suspects workers who had been at her house had taken the money. Police are investigating.
Theft: Cedar Road
At 8:35 p.m. Nov. 17, police were called to the Dollar General store, 13470 Cedar Road, on a theft report. Store employees told officers of their belief that two men worked together to steal unknown merchandise. One of the men, described as 30-40 years old, is thought to have placed merchandise near the store’s rear, emergency fire exit. The other man, 25-30 years old, then took the merchandise out of the rear door, setting off the fire alarm.
The detective bureau is investigating.
Aggravated menacing: Warrensville Center Road
At 7:50 p.m. Nov. 20, police were dispatched to the Boston Market restaurant, 2184 Warrensville Center Road, where a male was throwing food and threatening staff. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.
Staff members told police that the man became irate when told the restaurant didn’t have the food he requested. The man, before walking out of the building, threw food then lifted his shirt to show what was thought to be a gun in his waistband. As he left, he said he would see staff members later.
Employees took down the man’s license plate number as he drove away. The detective bureau is investigating.
OVI: Warrensville Center Road
At 1:50 a.m. Nov. 20, police responded to a report of an erratic driver heading south on Warrensville Center Road, near Cedar Road. Officers located the car and stopped it for speeding and not driving within marked lanes.
The driver, a Maple Heights woman, 23, was found to be impaired. She was arrested for OVI and cited for the traffic violations.
